Asit's photos.

It's the rainy season in India. For the five months that I was there earlier this year, it only rained a couple of times, so when Asit sent me these photos, it was hard to imagine rain drops dripping off of green leaves and people wearing boots to keep dry. While I was there, I feel like I grew a lot as a photographer, and most of it was because of Asit; we explored new things together and watched tutorials online for far too many hours, but looking back, those are some of my fondest memories of living there for me. I wanted to put these on here to show some of Asit's latest work.
Enjoy a bit of India's latest!

a little behind.

A while back, I posted this photo below.
an imam reading at the jaama majid.
Well, I also said in that post that I would be putting more photos up soon from my last week in India. I was able to go to Delhi and see all the great sites there, and because of all the other photos I've been busy with since being home, I haven't had the chance to finally sort through them and put them up! Well, for all of you guys out there anxiously waiting to see them, here they are. If you're reading this and thinking, "umm, I didn't even know you went to India", haha, it's okay. Anyways, I hope you enjoy these, and just FYI, all of these prints are available for sale. Just shoot me an email at hayeska90@yahoo.com if you're interested!

india family lovin'

Where do I even begin...?
This is the Mukherjee family.
dad, mom, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson...
a.k.a greatest family ever.
they love each other a lot. a whole lot, actually.
This family has had such a huge impact on me since being in India.
They've given so much.
These photos are an attempt to give back to them what they've given to me, which I know will never be enough.
Here's a toast in pictures to a fabulous experience in India with this wonderful family.
Enjoy!

yes, these three pictures of mother and son made me cry.
a father/son shot will always be the classiest.
tell a 13 year old boy to run or jump, and he all of a sudden loves getting his picture taken :)

a breath of fresh air.

This weekend, a few of us folks from NHI in India went to get some fresh air. We like going to villages. Beautiful landscapes, vivid colors, the simple lives of the people, and just the chance to get out of the city  if nothing else. Enjoy a taste of India through your eyes with these!

This photo is of me (Katie) doing basic medical treatment of a common skin problem among village
children caused by lack of cleanliness and basic sanitation. It was taken by Asit this weekend,
and shows the type of work that your support of NHI will go towards. Many villages here do not have
adequate medical supplies, nor do they have doctors/hospitals near their homes. With your
help, we can supply our friends here in India with medicine, doctor visits,  and basic needs for
preventing health problems and outbreaks. Go to one of our galleries at the top of the page and
buy a print, or book us for your family photos, senior portraits, engagement photos, etc!
Your choice to use us is helping other people in a tangible way.

Saying goodbye to the nest.

Today was a pretty big day for quite a few of the tiny tots here in India. Trying to remember my very own first day of school is a little difficult, but I imagine it was a little scary, exciting, and obviously something totally new. I think you can see from the looks on some of their faces that these little ones feel the same way. We hope you enjoy these images, and we give you total permission to reminisce for a few seconds about your days as a bouncing four year old!

P.S: could these kids get any cuter?!

XOXO, India.

Although NHI hasn't had a shoot lately, I wanted to share with you all a few photos that have been taken by Asit and I here in India. There is no theme to these, but what I love about this set is the way that, when brought together, these images truly bring a glimpse of life in India. From the vividly green rice fields, to cultural programs, to everyday life at school, I just really love the realness of these. We hope you enjoy!

Pinki and Arun: Sunday morning glory!

We. Love. The. Roy. Family.
for so many reasons. maybe it's because of their obvious love for each other when they are together. Maybe it's because of the little things like them wanting to make me more comfortable and were constantly asking me, "How are you? Do you need anything?" even up to the few hours before the wedding when Pinki probably had a thousand other thoughts racing through her head. I could go on an on about the moments I felt blessed to be a part of this past weekend. Although I only was able to get to spend time with Pinki's side of the family, I'm sure Arun's is just as great. What I loved about this family the most was how much they laughed.  You'll get a glimpse of that through a few of these photos below, and what I hope you also see is the beauty of what goes on before the wedding. The way the family came together from miles apart to celebrate their daughter, niece, cousin, friend. Okay, I'll stop. Now you can look :)
